This
course critically explores the intersection between gender and the law. It
examines how legal systems construct, reflect, reinforce, and sometimes
challenge gender-based hierarchies and inequalities. Students will analyze laws
and legal institutions through feminist legal theories and understand how race,
class, sexual orientation, and other identities intersect with gender in legal
contexts. The course also covers local and international legal frameworks
related to gender justice, human rights, and equality.
