This course provides a foundational introduction to the principles, rules, institutions, and actors involved in the development, enforcement, and adjudication of Public International Law. Students will explore the nature and sources of international law, including treaties and customary international law, as well as the legal status and roles of key international actors such as states, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations. Key topics include jurisdiction and immunities, the law governing the use of force, the law of treaties, international dispute resolution mechanisms, and the role of international judicial bodies. Special emphasis will be placed on the functions and influence of the United Nations and other global institutions in maintaining international legal order.
