This
course provides a comprehensive introduction to the international legal
standards protecting the rights of children. It examines how international
human rights law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Rights of
the Child (UNCRC) and other related treaties, regional systems, and
institutions, frame the protection of children. The course also engages
critically with implementation mechanisms, real-world challenges, and thematic
issues such as child labour, juvenile justice, armed conflict, and child
migration.
